His Story

Ríoghán Monaghan was born to be a director. As a child, there was nothing he enjoyed more than going to the movies or the theatre, absorbing the scenes and stories like a sponge. He grew up in a household that loved art and the process of storytelling and never strayed from that tradition.

After working as a carpenter in England for several years, Ríoghán opted to further his education and undertook a degree of Screenwriting and Digital Film Production at the University of Chichester. In his time at university, he tried his hands in many departments from First Assistant Director to Key Grip to Editor. His main love was definitely the act of crafting stories and ways of telling them.

As a storyteller, he enjoys blending a dose of sadness with happy moments and recreating the complicated nature of life, seeing that through our pain and suffering we always have space to laugh. You can see some of his work here. 

 

In his free time, he enjoys nothing more than writing films, varying from comedy to thriller, western to sci-fi. He watches films voraciously, learning from them all the time.
